choir concerts = xmas season :oP
last night was concert #1
or concert #2 if you count concerts attended and performed
#1/#2 of how many?? i dont know! its only just begun!
saturday night stacie and i went to see the universal gospel choir, which kicked some serious ass. aside from the hideous tunics they wore (you seriously couldnt tell who was pregnant and who wasnt) and the fact that a large number of people in the choir needed a serious hair & makeup makeover, they were absolutely incredible.
like, ppl were dancing in the aisles. yeah - it was wicked. so wicked in fact that stacie and i want to join!! except im hoping to have class on monday nights next semester, and jed's old high school teacher is in the choir, so he doesnt want to join with me, which would also have been a large draw to the world of mixed choirs :oP
alas, no gospel choir at this time, but hopefully in the future. :o)
last night was our first choir concert, with the black bear band. it was at the kay meet theatre, which is a great place to see concerts, but not so fantastic to sing in, unfortunately. well, maybe its just cause we were singing in front of the curtain line, so most of our sound was getting sucked into the gaping void behind us instead of projected out in front of us. a riser shell would have been nice, but as it wasnt our concert, and our risers were already in front of the band for the whole night, its better to take what you can get :oP
lynn is in the choir, which rocks. she is really nice, and i always liked her from when we sang together before. it also means that some old celesta girls will occasionally show up for our concerts - like katy last night. it was uber great to talk to her and just chat for a bit. i miss a lot of those old choir friends, cause we had some kick ass times together.
its crazy to think that most of my back in the day closest choir friends went to school with jake :oP they are all like, i remember him, he was quiet and nice. well, nothing has changed. still quiet, still nice :oP i wonder if we would have met earlier if i had kept up that close choir bond with amy and erin and katy and some of the other girls . . . hmmm, ponderous indeed :o)
ah, back to choir concertness :o) tonight is rehearsal, mon night is rehearsal, tues is choir concert. should be good, we have a harpist coming in, and i always like harpists. i would totally love to get to a messaih, either sing along or other, this choir season. went to one last year @ glasgow uni and wondered why i havent been to one every year!! it was really incredible, alas, tickets are always expensive, and im still trying to pay for vegas :oS
i think my new years resolution will be to arrange a choir song of some sort. not write, cause that would be practically impossible, but arrange. i figure after 15 + years of choral singing i ought to be able to put some notes on a page :oD
anyhoo, i should probably do *some* work :oP seeing as im at work, and its 9, so i have made one hours wage and have printed off an email to file later :oD i love my job!
