from cavare, to make hollow

i've decided to start writing on a more regular basis. since i already devote sporadic amounts of time to topical posting, i might as well exert some self-discipline and write to practice as well as to archive. of course, the trick is to encourage yourself to write even when the nothing of any possible consequence or thoughtfulness could come out of it, and it's also just as important to temper the habit of writing for an audience. the trick is to use the visibility of a blog, which motivates my journaling impulse better than if i were to only write for myself, to sustain the frequency of writing but not alter the honesty of it.

i hope i can keep it up.

right now, the only word to really describe me is.... excavated.

Main Entry: ex·ca·vate
Etymology: Latin excavatus, past participle of excavare, from ex- + cavare to make hollow -- more at CAVATINA
transitive senses
1 : to form a cavity or hole in
2 : to form by hollowing out
3 : to dig out and remove
4 : to expose to view by or as if by digging away a covering
