new mexico is the way to go
So new mexico was definitely one of the best places i've ever been. the land was just sooo incredibly beautiful. this was my trip:
~ first. had a nip of jack. straight up on ice. on the plane.
~ went ontop of sandia peak where the elevation= 10,378 ft. very cold up there, but a beautiful view.
~ went to old town, albuquerque. it was a cool place with lots of shops and old buildings.
~ saw lots of buffalo!
~ had awesome mexican food.
~ finally met caitlin's "jipi"(hippy in spanish) boyfriend, ryan, whom i love.
~ went out thurs & fri night w/ mom, caitlin & ryan for mexican food. mom decided sopapillas are better than sex.
~ got drunk in ryans room with a bunch of people until 4 in the morning and then woke up at 8 to go on our adventure.
~ caitlin, ryan, stephen & i went on a road trip to madrid. on the way there the mapquest directions told us to go down route 85 or something. well the road ended up being a dirt road that we were on for about 10 miles. it was a crazy road that went through the mountains. no other cars were on the road and there were no people to be seen.
~ finally arrive to madrid. beautiful artsy town that was once for sale for 250,000 dollars. it was snowing there which made it even more beautiful and exciting. we had lunch at the tavern where there was a neil young look alike. we think that it was really him.
~ after madrid, we got back in the car and headed towards santa fe. on the way we stopped at "lone butte" general store. i loved that store. hah.
~ driving through santa fe was amazing. red rocks, the camel rock.. just beautiful landscape.
~ we ended up at chimayo- a small town with one of the oldest churches. the church was beautiful and had midget sized doors. in one room of the church there was a hole in the ground with healing dirt in it. it was cool. i took some dirt. =)
~ dinner in chimayo was unbelievable. the night before i had enchiladas, so this time i ended up having fajitas. oh and sopapillas are my new favorite. they're like fried dough hollow triangles that you put honey in and eat for dessert. so yummy.
~ on the ride back, i realized that i was exhausted, so stephen and i fell asleep in the car ride home. caitlin and ryan played the grateful dead in the car and were the cutest couple ever. so happy for her. he'll be visiting in january hopefully.
~ went back to UNM and then had to say bye to my new friends and to caitlin. it was so good to see her and to see where she's living and meet her new friends. it was an experience that i will always remember.
was sick last week with strep and then finally got better because of meds. got better before NM, thank god. missed some tests that i have to make up this week. um.. what else? i got a t-shirt in denver that says "i think this whole place is high". i love it. saw tom yesterday =). i got lots of turquoise jewlery in NM. shit it's 1030 now. i have to go finish my huge paper for my research class. peace in the crease.
