I just finished watching "The Laramie Project". Ever hear of it? It's a true story based on a murder crime in Laramie, Wyoming. It's about a 21 year old male, Matthew Shepard, who was found savagely beaten and tied to a fence and left to die. Why?...because of his homosexuality. Matthew Shepard died 50days before his 22nd birthday. I think everyone should watch this movie. It's intensely moveing, and truely a piece of art captured on film. Sure it's scary...it's reality...showing a human being's ugly nature. Seeing a human being beaten to death by another human being is much more scarier then some fiction horror movie. I have never been very religious in my lifetime. Ever. I was just brought up that way. I went to CCD I did my thing...go to church...yeah...I just don't get into it...it's not me. I've met people with huge views on religion and yes I know it is a very sensitive and controvercial subject in the world today. Over the past year I have seen and participated in many things that have shaped my view on religion...and my overall opinion on the catholic/christen religion...MY religion. I will not share this with who ever is reading...because frankly I think that is a stupid thing to do. I don't like when people preech out to me and others...and telling them how they should do things and what they should believe...so I am not going to do that either.I could get seriously bashed for mearly typeing out what I believe. But...I will say this..."The Laramie Project"...is a movie...that really makes you think...about where you stand and what your views are. It also...gives you a little touch into reality. Something...I never really liked to do. ONe of the main reason's why my nose is burried in mangas or my eyes are glued to an anime series everynight or why my wallet is thinner because I spend a good portion of my money in Suncoast buying anime DVDs. In this movie...their is a lot of interviewing throughout the town of Laramie...and one interview, towards the end, is with the town's...eh...not priest...what's the word...preecher?...who holds sermons...anyway...What he said about Matthew...and the crime that was set upon him...completely discusted me. I have never ever been more offended. The quote "Love the sinner, hate the sin." did not apply at all...at all...the quote was stated...several times throughout the movie...all by...religious people of the town who were interviewed. But just...I don't know...ask Kribbs if you can barrow it...I'm returning it tomorrow. Choa
