Tonight I did something I haven't done in at least 30 years.
I picked up a hula hoop and had a go at hooping.
Didn't get far, but I was sucking less by the time we had to pack up than I had at the start.
Weasel has joined the University Circus Club to learn how to juggle clubs, some pass juggling, and some nifty tricks.
There are people there who do all sorts of different things -- juggling, balance acrobatics, stilts, springheel stilts, hula hooping, poi, firesticks, and I'm sure there's some I've missed.
I was more or less at a loose end, so after watching for a while I picked up a hoop.
I was the oldest person there by at least 10 years. Nobody gave a shit. They were just happy to see people playing with their toys.
Weasel's the youngest in the group by at least 4 - 5 years (there's a Year 13 from her school, who is likely to be either 17 or 18; Weasel is 13). She's been lent a set of juggling clubs to practice with over the course of the next week. She went from never having picked one up to being able to juggle three clubs in the course of two hours.
She's very keen to go back. So am I.
This could be fun.
