A short tidbit

Icharus threw the football helmet hard against the far wall of the dingy, rancid den. The cheap plastic resounded with a sharp crack and ricocheted hard back towards the angered mage.

Time slowed for the mage. He watched and felt the instinctive pulses of physics begging him for commands. Frustration rippled in his mind. A sudden splash of forces washed from his mind and the helmet hovered serenely for a long moment as Icharus' anger slowly grew. With a twist of his wrist, he watched the powers governing the trajectory skew and twist until it flung itself hard away from the mage and shattering the window of the greenhouse.

'Damn'  He thought coldly as he slumped into his couch. His right hand singed with heat as his pattern strained suddenly from hurling the helmet. He looked down at the sensation, blinking slowly as the hair curled and disintegrated with a foul smell.

Icharus put his hands to his temples. Closing his eyes in anger at himself.

"Why... why can't I do anything right?"   He clenched his fists.
