Well, I am back from vacation on Lake Chelan. It was just myself and my girlfriend Jenn, my son and his friend Drew. We stole my dad's boat and truck to get up to her cabin. Our original ride bailed on us. But, thankfully everything went off without a hitch. I've assisted in many boat launchings but was never the ONLY person that knew what they were doing. I have to say that I am very proud of myself. It took me a few tries to get the trailer lined up on the boat launch but i'm not complaining. We lucked out having nice calm water on the way up AND the way out. Typically it is just plain windy over there.
Nothing too exciting to report from the week.
- ran into a couple of rattlesnakes
- few piles of bear poop
- lots of grouse...even a grouse attack! (nasty ol' birds)
- the boys did some fishing and even caught some fish
- lots of swimming (when it was nice)
- 3 days of thunder and lightning and rain and hail
- Jenn's dog managed to slide off of the 10' high deck chasing a chipmunk (funniest thing i've seen in a while once we figured out he was okay...idiot)
- took a trip up lake to Stehekin http://www.lakechelan.com/732.html. Hit the bakery (Jarid had a cinnamon roll the size of his head), hiked to Rainbow falls, bummed a ride from the falls with some locals back to the boat docks, had some REALLY choppy waters heading back to the cabin (caught some good air in my dad's boat...don't tell him).
- all in all a good time. Glad to be home though.
Monday I decided not to go into work again (I figure I am due because I went into work LAST Monday when I was supposed to be on vacation). I had so much to do and unpack. Also my brother and his have had their 2nd baby so I just HAD to go see him. Little Devin Scott. This is a pick of the 3 cousins. My son Jarid holding Devin and Devin's big sister Brianna. So awesome. Everyone is healthy and happy. :)
Hubby and I broke down and bought an A/C unit for the house. It is just TOO fricking hot. And we were getting TOO cranky due to lack of sleep (because it was TOO fricking hot). Plus, my cat has been following us around and yelling at us because he is too hot. LOL! I slept good last night.
Have to take hubby's Jetta in for an oil leak and master cylinder replacement. Good thing the van just got fixed. Sheesh! One thing after the other.
