Travelogue: Near London Bridge, London

Jul 22, 2005 15:01

The Market Porter is so named because it's the pub just across London Bridge market. In the old days, farmers, fishmongers and butchers would come in and have their first drink for the day, usually early morning. It still is the hotspot for those who sell their wares in the market. But as the pub is only a few blocks away from the Financial Times headquarters, it has also become the watering hole of traders, brokers and finance journos.

Just around Market Porter is a one-way lane that leads to Balls Bros. (can't remember exact name now), another favourite haunt for a round of drinks before we all head home. It rarely snows in London, even in winter so on this particular day, we all mucked around throwing snowballs at each other (and of course I took my camera out for the occasion!) That's my workmate bending down to throw a snowball at me for bringing my camera.

One of my favourite pics. Two former workmates (and forever my friends) having fun with snow.
