Watching the news today and apparently, the most memorable line ever is Rhett Butler’s:
"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."
But on googling this piece of trivia, I discovered that in Britain, the honor goes to Travis Bickle's:
"You talkin’ to me?"
Now don’t go crazy double-checking this because apparently, the American Film Institute thought that the most quoted line is:
"You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!"
I’m confused now. :P
I want to write about the recent oil price rise. This morning, I filled up my petrol tank after yesterday’s report that the oil price is set to go up and yes, crude oil price shot to a 13-year high or something. This morning, I was charged 101.9 cents a litre for unleaded petrol. This afternoon, the same gas station was charging 110.9 cents a litre!!!! That’s a 10% hike in less than a day. To you and me, that’s like maybe an extra $10 out of pocket each week. But if you’re Red Cross or you’re a $5 billion manufacturing company, that’s an extra $10 million more petrol cost per year or for the latter, $200 million extra. I’m plucking numbers from thin air here but you get the drift. Oil price rises can affect your job and your ability to pay your mortgage.

It looks like the Japanese government won’t get their way and hunting whales for food won’t be allowed on Australian shores. We'll see. It's an ongoing issue.
Lastly, did you hear that former Ku Klux Klan leader Edgar Ray Killen, now 80-something, has finally been convicted guilty of manslaughter? Read an early news here:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/12/miss.killings/. Justice belatedly served but served nevertheless.
Okay, another survey claims “Bond. James Bond.” is the most famous line of all time. Who cares? But the oil price, commercial whaling and Killen convicted? Those are some of the things I do give a damn about.
