Went to the NSW Art Gallery today with
criosdan and one of my best friends B*. Only did a quarter of the ground floor where we looked at mostly European neoclassical paintings plus rooms of Australian paintings from the late 19th century. Then we headed off to the Pavillion on the Park cafe across the road where someone enjoyed the last piece of cake while the other two had to make do with almond biscotti. :P And yes Kris, you're an excellent matchmaker. That woman from that painting should meet up with the man from that other painting. Unless they're one and the same! LOL! And no, even if he's an Earl and even if we turn off the lights, I will NOT go out with that man! even hypothetically speaking. :D
Among the paintings I liked were Charles Landelle's 'Ismenie' (Nymph of Diana), 1878 and Frank Cowper's 'Faust's First Sight of Marguerite' (1915) (no pic here). And I loved the light and dark play of British painter Lord Frederic Leighton's Cymon and Iphigenia (1884).
See you again soon! :)
