hey, do you want to add a few lines on how to keep those puppies clean? i've done it a couple of times before to the girly-style ones (calculators) and it seems to be working out for me so far.
[p.s sorry about no photos of them on yet ...i'm not one of those fast-movers...]
very fucking carefully =P i get a damp cloth, wipe off as much dirt as i can. i use one of those spray bottles of stain remover, spray that on, let it sit for a while. then i get a spray bottle full of water and spray them gently all over with it, rinsing off the dirt and the stain remover stuff.
i remember you told someone else that it wasn't a good idea to douse them completely in water, so i thought my way was a safer bet!
thing is, i treasure the shoes so much, i want them to last as long as possible...so i clean them. the design's staying fast too, which is excellent.
the thing is, those shoes werent completely covered in paint, just the little calculators. theyre covered in varnish so they should last forever. the way i do shoes now, i dont think you could use stain remover on them. i cant seal them with varnish if the whole shoe is painted, because it doesnt allow the paint to flex, causing it to crack. i just use fabric medium mixed in, which makes it permanent. once mine get real old and dirty, i'll try different ways of cleaning them to see which way works best.
yeah i only used the stain remover on the white parts, grass stains and mud.
you're right about the varnish tho, the designs haven't cracked yet, even a little bit.
i've used fabric medium with paint on t-shirts before, and thus far it's come out fine from the washing machine. but the fact that your shoes are all over painted would make it...interesting, to say the least.
regardless of how they wash, i'm pretty sure i'll be lining up for another pair in the future!
