End of the Month

Wow so many things have happened in my life just in the past week.

First off last Sunday turned in to not be such a normal day after all. Alex and I are at his apartment just sitting around when Tara talks about us coming up to see her. Well first of all this was way unplanned and very unexected for myself. There were numerous times in the past that I had talked to Tara about how much I wanted to come up and see her in New Jersey. There were a few reasons I wanted to go:
-One, because Washington, DC on a school trip was as far north as I had been.
-Secondly I had not seen Tara in almost two months and I missed her.
-Third, New York was so close and I had always wanted to travel there.
-Fourth, It had been a while since Alex and I had been on a trip.
So I boarded Roeco Monday morning and we left. Alex did the entire drive by himself while I sat in the passenger seat taking in the sites. Well there were not that many sites until we were farther north out of the Carolina's. We took a longer way along the Eastern Shore so that I could Alex's part of the country, Maryland. It was beautiful and now I realize why he misses home so much. New Jersey was very interesting and seeing Tara and her mom was exciting. Tara's mom is the sweetest person in the world and I was filled in on many of Tara's childhood stories and a couple of photo albums. Meeting Tara's friends was really interesting. Lauren, I wish I lived in New Jersey to hear your comments because every one of them was hilarious. Quote" I wish I had a Great Dane and I would ride it to work." The funniest part about that was that I actually pictured her on the Great Dane riding it into Hoboken to catch the train to New York. So the trip to New York was very exciting. Well for me it was, for Alex and Tara it was just another trip to "the city." But it was way to much to take in in only five hours. The first intersection was almost instant death when Tara and I almost got hit by a taxi cab. Just the way cars operate in that city is so unreal. I mean five sometimes fours lanes of traffic, sometimes you stop at red lights but you really don't have too, the sound of horns honking, and being so close to the car next to you. I think the greatest part of the trip to New York and to New Jersey in general was spending time with Alex. A twelve hour drive gave us plenty of time to talk and I got to see his background and where he grew up. Leaving Tara was sad and I think if I would have stood there any longer I would have cried that is why it was a quick goodbye Wednesday morning. I was even surprised in New York when Alex bought me my birthday present. I believe almost anything and I never think really hard about anything. So Tara and I are left in the Apple Store while Alex went and handled some paperwork at this place. Well that is what he said he was going to do and I believed him and then we are sitting outside and he comes out of nowhere and places a Louis Vuitton bag in my lap and says "Happy Birthday." I actually had never been so shocked in my life. First off it was very unexpected and secondly he had just mentioned that my birthday present was going to be late because he had to order it. Needless to say Alex is always full of surprises and most of the time they are always good ones. I just sat there for a moment in shock and actually couldn't move for a moment. Then Thursday was filled with more early morning driving to Maryland. Alex has always said that Maryland is the greatest state in the country and now I can almost agree with him. St. Michael's the ideal place to live. I mean it is small, but it is so peaceful and cozy. I saw the main points of the city: the harbour, the homes of Condeleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfield, and the places where Alex used to work. Then since I had never had Maryland crabs we had those for dinner where we sat for over three hours talking and enjoying crabmeat. I don't think he realizes how much I enjoy being around him but it is probably more than he will ever know.
