It just means that the rich can choose either socialised or private health care cover, so if they're not happy with the socialised system they are more than welcome to take out private cover, in which case they will not pay the public system levy as part of their tax.
But the poor, who don't have the option of private health cover because it's too expensive, have a socialised healthcare system to back them up. The system might not be quite as good as the private system, but it is still very good and it's certainly better than dying in the damn streets with no health care at all.
It's not exactly rocket science. I don't understand why so many Americans are against it. Lack of socialised health care for the poor is a disgrace. But I suppose you have to pay for all those bombs you keep dropping on people SOMEHOW.

Look, you sound like a very educated and well thought out person. You did not stoop down to the level that a lot of those people in that thread did. That made you much more credible in my book. I know that you may sometimes feel like banging your head against the wall but all you need to do is recognize that by reacting to what accounts as a large number of illogical and childish posts - you are falling for a distraction best put elsewhere.
They'll go away. Keep the high road.
