The a-e, a week from today, will be leaving for South Carolina on holiday. He's passed through and overnighted there before, years ago, when his family drove down a few times to Florida, but this will be the longest he's ever stayed there.
Staying alone, of course. And this in Charleston's Historic District. He has a habit of going to romantic places alone.
Still, he does have a travel buddy. A friend sent him "Runner," a little Beanie mink.
The a-e will be taking the fellow with him. A small gesture made to him, but one that made him very happy, considering the circumstances under which it was sent to him.
Alone, physically, but perhaps not alone in spirit. For once.
