I have to say, as much as I love Melora's voice (and I really do), this singing business feels like they're trying to make Jan more annoying to her haters.
At the same time though, this really could have been far worse. Jan at least has a job at which she seems to command some respect and authority, she's out of sweatpants, and is a great mom. Knowing that she's coming back for 5 more, and seeing Jan so comparatively sane and together, I can't help but hope for better things down the road. On a related note, where exactly is Jan? Scranton? If so, wow.
Anyway, what I don't want to see is Jan going uberbitch on sweet Holly and coming out teh evul, as Michael rides off into the sunset with his twin sister soupsnake. They couldn't go that obvious, could they? They're better than that, right?
Big picture wise, I really dislike how the character of Michael has been hung up in emotional limbo because of an absentee guest star. I get that Amy Ryan is an Oscar nominee everyone's excited to work with, and she's probably rightfully beloved by all, which shines through in the writing for Holly, but they've held Michael up long enough on this half-baked relationship. It defies belief at this point, and I'm sick of woobieMichael. Even if Michael doesn't end up with Jan, I'm hoping they make good on Holly's side of the story and let her be right about it all, because given what's been happening all this time, she is. [/rant]
