I've posted so many thoughts in so many places. Where to begin? I'll try to write a composite post (this has all been posted elsewhere so sorry if you are reading it twice

That's when I started worrying...when season 3 ended and 4 began...having Jan fired was one of the worst thing the writers could have done because it kind of forces M/J to be together or at least trying to be together or otherwise we get no Jan in the episodes. I didn't think the firing was on just terms anyway, but even if it was, it was a bad idea for Jan's character to have airtime at all from that point on

I just have to say I REALLY loved this episode!!! Even Michael and Jan!! I have never stopped liking them through all of season 4 because I just totally understand what they are going through instead of just calling it crazy. Sara and I have already had this conversation but I feel like it needs to be said once more! First off, I don't like it that people are threatening to stop watching The Office all together because of Michael and Jan. How can you call yourself true fans if all of a sudden, you don't like something, and that just makes you want to up and give up on the show? No, that's called jumping on/off the bandwagon. So yeah, season 4 has been a little edgy for some people (not for me cuz for some reason, I understand it all amazingly! lol) but that's no reason to stop watching!!! Jan and Michael have been going through some tough times but hey, they are trying to make this real here people and no relationship is picture perfect. Besides, the writers have to keep the show fresh by throwing in twists, otherwise the fans, the

Well, I respect your optimism kiddo. I really do. Am I giving up on the show? No. I really can't do that as much as I'd kind of like to at this point. And its not really because of what I've been seeing. It's because of what we've been given. The writing has become a complete wash. Compared to what it was the first two seasons, it's sloppy crap at this point. And that's really what's making me want to give up. But, I wont. I never have, and I never will. I just hope they can turn most of this around. I've always loved Jan since the very beginning. But I cannot respect her choices. I mean, if I knew a person like her in real life that made those choices, I'd rethink my friendship with her. Seriously. What she did is really effed up, no matter what she wants in her life. And I truly feel sorry for Michael. Because unless Jan allows him to adopt that child, he isn't kind of ANYTHING at this point. I don't know. Hey, you know what we need? A really good fic. lol. Yeah. Somebody has got to take all this bad energy and turn it into

I saw all the long comments and the only thing I can come up to right now is this: The baby will eventually be Michael's, and a little after that Jan will deliver the baby, she'll see Michael's eyes/hair, and she'll be happy. If she won't, she can suck it and do whatever she wants. That's my first real comment on the episode, and probably the last one til season 5, 'cause it takes a lot of me to think about them right now.
Hi all-- new here, and had to literally join LJ today (and grab a cute supertvjunkie icon) to vent about this episode among folks whose work and thoughts I've quietly enjoyed for a while now. I finally got to see it this morning after having recently caught up on season 4 and am feeling really empty and let down about MJ. They are by far my favorite part of the series-- the reason I watch frankly, and I hate what has been done to them, to Jan in particular. I haven't enjoyed the show as I used to since late season 3, and I'll be bummed if it never turns around again

Yes, Women's Appreciation was written by the devil. Michael, near tears talking about his humiliation by Jan (to half the population of the office no less)-- was that supposed to be funny? It was hateful and ugly and really the beginning of a whole other show for me.
I just felt at that point that someone felt Jan had to be taken down hard, and it sucked. And it was lazy. Here was this great, yes, flawed character who despite everything remained relatable and even sympathetic, and suddenly she was some sort of sexual predator who made Michael a miserable wreck. I kept hoping they'd come back and fix Michael's POV with the "truth" (maybe via hidden camera, I don't know...) but it never happened. Still waiting for that.
I have to say here that I do still love Jan, and want MJ despite everything, and can only hope all of this idiocy will get fixed/explained, perhaps revealing the limitations of the documentary crew in capturing "reality". There's got to be some glimmer of hope,
