An hour or so we got our first female Speaker of the House. I am pleased with this, but I already see signs of weenieness coming from Madam Speaker's party. She has already stated that impeachment is off the table. Defunding the war is off the table. Unauthorizing the war seems to be off the table. I feel that some sort of "hold their feet to the fire" campaign is in order as the majority of the American people are justifiably ashamed of our international conduct. The result of the November congressional elections is a clear mandate for immediate withdrawal. If we can raise such a cacophony of united disapproval that the Democrats can be forced to do their duty and stop this damned war we can win. If we can unite against the war in this way and the Democrats fail once again, perhaps it will become as clear to the majority as it is clear to me that we need a new party that truly represents the interests of the majority of the people of America we will also be victorious.
