it's impossible to step into someone else's dreams, he was certain. most would have thought the idea to be childish and silly, filled with ignorance and a want to escape reality. but he knew Taeyeon was different, for the simple fact that she was serious.
✎ This is actually part of a larger project I'm working on (A series, guys. It's more then two thousand words. What am I getting myself into? Nearing exam time, no less.) but I couldn't not post this on Livejournal. More information on "And It's Contagious" can be
found here, in the meantime. It will eventually be cross-posted to Livejournal in its entirety once I've actually gotten somewhere with this idea.
"Have you ever wanted to get lost in your dreams?" The question is pulled out of thin air, and when he lifts his head to try and search her eyes for the answer she expected, all he found was the back of her head, her eyes still running over the lines of text in her history book. Smiling, he closes his own textbook, wondering what it was she read that prompted such a question.
"My dreams are usually nightmares, so no, not really." He was surprised he had managed to, for once, smile through the thought of the terrible memory that plagued his dreams since he was a little boy. It wasn't a happy smile, nor one that symbolized healing, it was just a simple smile; one that held no true value, but one that wasn't necessarily hollow, either. He thinks that maybe that's just the effect she has on him. On everyone, really. Even Kris finds it hard not smile even the littlest bit when Taeyeon's around. "What about you?"
"All the time," she answers in something just above a whisper. Finally lifting her head, she looks over her shoulder and gives him a gentle smile before turning her chair around completely so she could face him as she spoke. "My dreams are always filled with bubbles, and numbers and memories, along with the smell of Kai's infamous mystery cocktail. It sticks to everything when I'm asleep. And sometimes, I dream of nothing but Kris hopping around in a bunny suit."
Suho lets the image fill his thoughts, and he just manages to catch a glimpse of her cheeky smile before he's bent over the table in front of him, his arms holding up his head as he laughed his heart out. The sound boomed around the shelves of the library and bounced off the walls, and eventually an irritated chorus of hisses hit his ears, telling him to be quiet. He couldn't find it in himself to stop, so he settled for biting into his arm in the hopes that it would muffle his laughter.
He doesn't know when she stood up and made her way over to him, but as Suho's took his last few breaths to calm himself down, he felt her hand perch itself on his shoulder. Slowly, he looks up and is met with a worried gaze and a glint of amusement hidden behind the golden-brown color of her eyes. Her hand cups his cheek and his eyes widen as he feels her thumb lightly caress his cheek. He finally realizes how close her face is to his just a second before she leans away and takes a seat on the chair right next to his, looking down at her glistening thumb.
"I should take you into my dreams one day," she says, and it sounds more like she's taking to herself than anything else. He straightens up in his seat, wiping away the happy tears from his cheeks, nodding his head even though her eyes weren't on him any longer. "We could go there when we're bored, with Kai and Kris, and the memories, and just get lost."
It's impossible to step into someone else's dreams, he was certain. Most would have thought the idea to be childish and silly, filled with ignorance and a want to escape reality. But he knew Taeyeon was different, for the simple fact that she was serious.
Completely and utterly serious. Because Lee Taeyeon was a dreamer floating on a pink cloud above a parade of realists, and while everyone else wished for things to happen, she made her dreams truth and then created more to dream. She dreamed of happiness and she would have it, she wished away sadness and it would disappear.
There was a part of him that was sure she could turn this into reality too, somehow.
He tucked his fingers under her chin and tilted her head up slightly, giving her a small smile when their eyes locked. He wondered if she could hear how hard his heart was beating against his rib cage, and he wondered whether she would catch it if it happened to pop out of his chest. "I'd like that." He admitted softly, causing her to break into a huge grin. I'd love that.
