My VCR died this weekend, painfully and without dignity - a tape jammed into its open mouth, still blinking 12:00 mournfully. I was going to buy another one to replace it, but Jules and Mac convinced me that I needed to join the modern age and get myself a DVD player.
"No one watches videos anymore," Jules had explained. And Mac agreed. DVDs were far less bulky and far more durable than tapes.
The model I picked up was just a cheap Wal-Mart brand, but I noticed one immediate improvement - it didn't keep track of time.
Goodbye forever, eternal blinking midnight.
