Felton, a Puritan, is supposed to be a man who doesn't see beauty, which is why he is put in charge of the Duke
of Buckingham's prisoner, Milady de Winter.

Milady soon convinces Felton that she shares his religious convictions, asking to borrow a religious text.

Felton finds her praying. She knows perfectly well that he is there ...

He feels conflicted.

He seeks guidance from his god. Milady collapses in his arms.

Felton cools her forehead ... and then her bosom.

She tells him that The Duke of Buckingham is planning to abandon the Protestants beseiged at La Rochelle, and go
to his Catholic lover, the Queen of France instead.

Having weakened his resolve, she seduces him.

He helps her escape.

Felton stabs the Duke of Buckingham before he can set sail for France, and is arrested.
