No, it was not a typical October 10th. Yet, this days celebration of the one hundred and fifth anniversary of Cuban independence suffered not from this unorthodoxy. In the spirit of Tomás Estrada Palma's historic presidency my countrymen and I supped on a delectable array of traditional Cuban cuisine, including; platanos en tentación, both cheese and guava empanadas, miniature panetela borracha, and a fresh guacamole dip. Festive Mojitos, Cristal and Salsa music complimented these delightful dishes. Thus, despite transmission problems and my disastrous attempts at making pie our wonderful hosts allowed their most grateful guests to recognize the independence of Cuba with most excellent style and company.
