Seems like you grow your hair out a little and you invite all sorts of creepiness.
A few weeks ago, I went running in the pouring rain (and it was fantastic). As I was cooling down in the Common, walking to lower my heartbeat, some stout guy made a noise at me as he came near. I looked up in surprise and he was staring at me, then fell into step with me. Starting asking me lots and lots of questions - gradually becoming too personal. I tried to be nice. I tried to alter my course and he altered his to match mine. When I finally did break away from him, the look he had in his eyes actually frightened me. I ran the rest of the way back to the dorm. >_>
Then just yesterday, I heard some runner coming up behind me and my competitiveness kicked in. I sped up and refused to let him pass me, but I hadn't been running for a time and eventually he did pull up alongside me, striking up conversation. Said he knew there was something more to me than just the "casual". He must've been 38 or older, so it wasn't that creepy, it was more of a coach-athlete kind of feeling, and we ran together for half an hour (fucking killed me, trying to keep up with him and talking at the same time). He said some nice things, so I hope he wasn't just being creepy, but actually meant them - that I seemed to glide when I ran, and that he figured I could get down to a 5:20 mile, and stuff. The most disturbing thing out of him was a comment he made about my legs, which made me go, Nu ;_;.
Then when we parted ways, he gave me his e-mail address. Said, "You can run." Wants me to train with him and the rest of his usual posse. This is an awesome opportunity, seeing as they're all experienced and Suffolk doesn't have a track team, so otherwise I'd be training alone. But still... The more I think on it, the more I'm unsure if it's a safe thing to do. Opinions?
