I love Rob Zombie, I just wish he was more lyrically complex. I mean, he's got the insanely brutal guitars and drums, and sings about just delightfully awful things, but if the lyrics could only be a bit more thought out... Still about murder, blood, and monsters, of course, but, well, better.
Nevertheless, this is one of my theme songs right now:
SuperbeastMy favorite line: "The ragged they come and the ragged they kill." <3 I'm YOUR Superbeast, baby.
(And if you haven't heard
Living Dead Girl by him yet, you're missing out. "Rage in the cage and piss upon the stage...")
And anyone ever hear of Lordi? I just came across them, and they are ridiculous. A metal band from Finland (sings in English) that wears the most elaborate costumes I've ever seen for a band, during all of their performances. They dress up as pretty convincing monsters - the definition of a hellish band. I think I like the drummer the best, but in the Would You Love a Monsterman video, the stoic helmet-wearing bassist is pretty badass. And the keyboardist is female. Linked to videos because it's something you just have to see:
Devil is a LoserWould You Love a Monsterman Taking a break from all this gory metal, a punky-poppish-rock song by Paramore:
crushcrushcrushAnd Beyonce's latest hit, which I heard so many times in the gym and identified with some of it (probably not in the way she intended listeners to):
If I Were a Boy Finally, a band introduced to me just recently called Kings of Leon. At first I was meh about them, but they're just so feel-good rock that you can't stay in that frame of mind for long. Beautifully vulgar, and smooth as milk when they want to be. :) I highly suggest these two songs:
