People kept commenting on how Dean had nothing to do with Sam getting control over Lucifer, it was an inanimate object that brought him back to himself and this is the only other comment I have made: "I would just like to point out that even though Sam's memories may have been triggered by an inanimate object, there would have been no memories to be triggered if it hadn't been for Dean. If Sam hadn't remembered the love of his brother, he wouldn't have defeated Lucifer. Sam's success didn't require any action from Dean at the time. His success came from a lifetime of action from his brother. Sam may have sacrificed his life at the end of Swan Song but Dean had been sacrificing his life since he was four years old, putting aside his life to take care of his brother. The power of love really did stop the apocalypse."
It's been a very civilized discussion or I wouldn't have bothered but you can tell people are really miffed by Dean not having what they consider to be an important role. I have to think of stories like LOTR, Star Wars, and even Harry Potter. The hero of the story isn't just the person who has the main story arc. Heroes come in all forms. And Dean is one of the biggest fictional heroes there are, IMO.
