When it rains...

it pours.

I'm off Mon-Wed this week - kinda looking forward to the break from the norm. Tommorrow I am helping my friend Tony out - he's gotta work, I'm gonna get his truck inspected for him, and he'll give me a bit of cash for my trouble - so it works.

My revolver decided to teach me a new trick when the screw that holds the sight rail disappeared and the sight rail shot back at my face and whizzed past my head. Definitely learned my lesson - I'll be checking everything is tight on my guns prior to firing from now on. Now I'm just hoping they can locate the proper screw to put it back together. I've been toying with the idea of getting a large viewfinder scope for it. Then again - that totally kills the point of the revolver being so small. Counterpoint - I leave it at the range, it's not like I carry it.

Cars are running good. Hung out with my friend Rami the other night, he just got rid of a Mazdaspeed Protege that was giving him nothing but headaches and replaced it with a 2002 BMW 3-series coupe. Leather, heated interior, 5 speed, 6-cyl, very nice car. He let me take the drivers seat - the car is very nice, handles well and has a gentle ride considering the taut suspension. Very quiet - I like that. My cars are not quiet - they are loud. It's exhaust, tires, and intake with a bit of drivetrain noise and some wind and tire noise for good measure. But anyway - the BMW is very nice. I was extremely impressed.

My best friends Mom celebrated her 50th this weekend. It was really nice, they had it at a place in Manasquan. Rick and Sissy worked on a Powerpoint slideshow - and good mix cd to accompany it. I brought my laptop and projector - they setup a white sheet - and we played it for her, and everyone else too. I'd guess there were about 80 people there. Of all the surrogate families I have, the Norman-Filk crew is definitely the largest and are very close to my heart. I mean, I lived with them for a while - and the whole family really is great.

I also reconnected with a girl I haven't seen in a very long time. She was a friend of my nieces when I was younger. It's very interesting to talk to her because of our similar backgrounds, both being raised in the same religion, and attending the same local church("Kingdom Hall - Congregation"). She has a very interesting outlook on things, and is fun to talk to. She's what's keeping me up right now.

In other news ... I'm smiling right now.
