Sewing Project!

Here's my latest sewing project. (more pictures, after the jump)

MEOW!

I sewed her head with a baseball-type pattern. My original intention was to have a big round head with a smaller body, but apparantly I made the round parts of the head-pattern too far from each other, resulting in this squarish look.

Despite that it wasn't my original intention, I've come to think of it as a characteristic of the stylization and actually quite adorable!

The body was made in three peices, two for the back and one for the tummy. I was originally going to sew the arms into the side-seams, but was unable to keep them even and so opted for this design, which makes the kitty very cute as it 'sits'.

The tail is stuffed as well- it's my favorite part! I embroidered the face freehand, with bits of darker fleece for the eyes. For all the main seams I'm using a fairly obvious flat stitching. It gives the plushie an overall handmade comforting sort of ragged feel, which I think really works well.

Hello there~

The collar and bell were a last minute addition. The neck was originally too thin and had to be given a quick tuck to avoid being wobbly. The line left bu this was a bit ugly, soa collar with a bell was the perfect thing! Besides, it's soooo cute.

My next project: a plaid puppy with a similar design. This is so fun!
