Frustration
By Mia
Rating: G
Characters: Kevin
Summary: Kevin doesn’t know what to do.
Disclaimer: I don’t know these people. This is fiction, not a recount of things that have actually happened.

It was hard for all of them. Finding out what Lou had done to them, lying and stealing. Cheating them out of their hard earned money and doing so under the pretense of being a friend, a mentor. The lawsuit was hard for all of them. They were all angry and frustrated and scared.

It was worst for Kevin. He felt guilty. He was the oldest, he was the father figure - never mined that he wasn’t very old himself. He felt like he was somehow responsible for the other guys, for keeping them safe and happy. Now they weren’t happy or safe either, not the way he wanted them to be. He wanted to turn back time so he could do things differently, read the contracts one more time before signing them, something. He hated having to watch the hurt and anger flicker over their faces.

But there was nothing he could do, damn it. He couldn’t turn back time, he couldn’t make this whole mess go away just by wishing it. He couldn’t. All he could do was leave it up to their lawyers. Pray. Pray that they got it all sorted out somehow. Get them away from Lou. It was more than that though. Leave Lou, that was what they all wanted to do, but what if it wasn’t possible? What if leaving Lou meant having to give up on the group? That was… unacceptable.

So he had to trust that the lawyers knew what they were doing. Because no matter how much he wanted to help, to do something he knew he couldn’t. He didn’t know how these things worked, he didn’t have a law degree. So there really wasn’t anything to do.

He tried to spend time with the guys, trying to help them through this. Ease their worries, do whatever he could. It didn’t work out so well though. Nick was scared and trying to hide it, which made him very tightly wound. Afterwards they ended up screaming in each others faces over some silly little thing for the third time in two hours. Kevin decided to avoid Nick for a while.

Howie refused to let himself be comforted, instead he asked how Kevin was doing, how he was feeling. It threw Kevin off a bit but he realized he should have expected it. Howie preferred to do the comforting himself, that was what made him feel at ease. Brian was very quiet now, wasn’t fooling around with Nick like he used to. Kevin tried to talk to him but gave up when he only got one word replies. AJ glared when he tried to approach him. When despite this Kevin talked to him, he was met with a blunt refusal to talk about anything related to the lawsuit.

Kevin went back to praying. Went back to desperately wishing that the whole mess could just sort itself out. He still wanted to do something. Just sitting there being useless wasn’t helping anyone. There was nothing he could do though. Nothing but wait and pray.
