i watched 'high tension' on sunday. despite a good soundtrack and some of the goriest scenes i've witnessed in a movie, it totally blew. the little "twist" at the end is predictable from the first five minutes of the film. it also doesn't make much sense as a twist, at least not the way the story was written. i found the characters to be bland at best, the true star being the huge farm house where they live. but then i have a thing for big, old houses. seriously though, the murder scenes are insanely violent and graphic and made me squirm quite a bit. while i love the look of blood and gore on film when done right, i do not delight in torture scenes and this had some awful ones. even so, they're what kept the film alive as far as i'm concerned.
i also saw the new harry potter this last weekend and was very dissapointed. everyone kept saying how scary and dark it was but i found the previous one to be more so what with the azkaban gaurds hovering around. i was also very upset that the big battle between the wizards and the deatheaters at the quidditch world cup was left out- it's what i wanted to see the most! harry et al were acting a bit more like real people and less saccharine this go around but it just didn't carry it for me. even the tri-wizard trials seemed to be shot as an after-thoguht more than anything and no quidditch??! lame lame lame.
