Tomorrow is my Big, Scary and Final Law Bagrut, which will mark the culmination of three years of studying. It means I've been cramming like a bookworm all day. (Sadly, it also means that I've been horribly neglecting my flist and not logging on chat. Sorry! ;_;)
From the ever-wonderful treasure trove of Law questions, I bring you:
ETA: MORE QUESTIONS AS I UNEARTH THEM (go on, guess what the answer is):
713. The "kona'a" (קונע) is:
(a) A prison-house in the Jewish community of the 13th century.
(b) Two metal collars hung from the wall of the synagogue, intended to go around the neck of the criminal.
(c) A punishment - whose purpose was to publicly humiliate and shame the criminal.
(d) Answers (b) + (c) are correct.
BDSM? IN MY HALACHA?
327. Two cops, Michael and Muriel, were doing their rounds in a police car when they espied three people who looked as though they were committing a "sinful" crime. Michael decided this was a great opportunity to quickly take them into custody. Muriel told Michael that they weren't allowed; instead they should ask the three suspects to escort them to the police station and only then arrest them, in order to make use of the station facilities. Who is right?
(a) Michael, but only if he - Michael - had good reason to assume that the three suspects were the ones who committed the crime. If there is no reasonable doubt, Muriel is right.
(b) Michael, since the arrest was done during a professional patrol and there were two witnesses (Michael and Muriel), and the arrestees are several in number and not a single person.
(c) Muriel, since the crime is "sinful" and therefore better suited to the confines of a police station.
(d) Neither Muriel nor Michael are right.
Oh, question-writers; you sinners, you.
