New Palestinian city to be built in the West Bank.
Sitting on a hilltop among the olive trees of the West Bank is a new town, carefully designed... This is not a new Israeli settlement but an image of what might soon be Rawabi, the first planned Palestinian city and a sign of fresh hope for economic recovery in the occupied West Bank.
FUCK YES. There is hope yet, it seems! I've not been too optimistic about Netanyahu's policies in re: the two-states solution (and for good reason), but this just goes to show that you can't stop progress. Even if your prime minister is kind of a giant dick. I would definitely like to visit this city someday. 8D
Welcoming the Year of the Tiger.
Last Sunday, February 14th was the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. It is also the beginning of the Chinese Spring Festival, with celebrations and observations by ethnic Chinese and others around the world, welcoming in the Year of the Tiger.

Amanda Palmer on the subject of her upcoming project, Evelyn Evelyn, and the fatal misunderstandings with disabled feminists, confused fans, and everyone on the internet ever.
To be honest, I'm not too worked up about the recent Evenlyn Evelyn drama. I get that it's a big deal and it's shockingly douchebag-y of her and she handled the whole situation poorly, but jeez, that happens on the internet all the time. And it's AFP, for fuck's sake; she is awesome. Yes, it's true that even awesome people fuck up occasionally, but AFP is awesome enough that when she says, don't judge until you see the final product, I'll take her word for it. Only time will tell, and while it's good that people think critically about every step of the way, I personally am not inclined to kick up any storms at the moment.
In other news, I have the first of my Law finals tomorrow, which would be exciting if it wasn't shockingly dull. There are little things, though, which make the incessant studying worth it. From my notes: "According to Tannaic sages, the place where it is hardest to be fair is during bartering, so he who is an even-handed negotiator, it is as though he has fulfilled the entire Torah."
LOL TANNAIC JEWS. Glad to see your priorities are straight. Because not ripping off customers is much more important than, say, not killing your neighbour. *g*
Lastly, I have a desperate urge to write more about the adventures of Boy Genius, Fledgling Feminist, and his giant novel of awesome (transgender heroines! secret identities! crossdressing! military! crossdressing in the military!) but that will probably take hours. Alas, Law final means wins out; it shall have to wait for later.
