Yuto hates rainy day. He loves to play outside but he couldn’t do it whenever it rains. He didn’t like the chilly air that always makes him shivers although he had worn a coat. He didn’t like to get wet because of the rain’s droplets. He always got moody in rainy days. So in conclusion, he hates rain.
It was a practice day. Every junior practiced for the Shounen Club’s performance, no exception for little Yuto. He was practicing so hard because he got a singing part with J.J.Express and Ya-Ya-Yah. He was too engrossed with the practice so he didn’t notice that it was raining outside. Besides, inside the building he wasn’t able to hear or see anything. So when he was ready to go home at the end of the practice, he was disappointed. He stood in the lobby, looking at the pouring rain with piercing eyes. He didn’t bring an umbrella, so he didn’t know how to get home.
“Yuto, why are you standing there alone?” a sound was heard. Yuto turned his back and found Yabu walking towards him from the elevator.
“I… didn’t bring any umbrella, Yabu kun,” Yuto said.
“Ah… is it raining outside?” Yabu looked outside through the glass door of the lobby. Yuto just nodded as an answer.
“Well, I brought an umbrella, thanks to my persistent mom. Do you want to share?” Yabu asked nicely.
“Umm….” Yuto was contemplated. He rather waits for his mom in the lobby, than walking under the umbrella in the rain. But it was a rare chance for him to talk and walk home together with Yabu. He’s a senior after all.
“Well?” Yabu asked once more.
“Is… is it alright?” Yuto asked nervously.
“Of course, you silly! I can’t leave you alone here,” Yabu chuckled.
So in the end, Yuto agreed to walk home with Yabu although it was raining. They walked side by side in silent. Yabu’s umbrella was not that big so they had to stand close in order not to get wet. But no matter how close they stood next each other, they got wet anyways. Yabu tilted the umbrella to Yuto’s side so the younger boy didn’t get wet. Although it makes his shoulder itself wet, but he didn’t care. The air was chilly, just like Yuto had predicted. He hated it. He was shivering due the chilly air. He crossed his arm in front of his chest to warm himself. Yabu noticed that Yuto was shivering.
“Yuto, are you cold?” Yabu asked, looking down at Yuto.
“Ah, it’s okay… I’m alright,” Yuto replied.
“It’s not okay! Here, walk closer to me,” Yabu moved the umbrella to the other hand and circled his free arm on Yuto’s shoulder. Yuto was tensed at first. He didn’t expect Yabu would do that to him. But soon he relaxed and enjoyed the warmth of Yabu’s arm on him. Of course it was difficult for Yabu to hold the umbrella and hug Yuto’s shoulder at the same time, but he managed to do it. He wanted to protect the younger boy.
“It’s your house soon,” Yabu said, breaking the silent between them.
“Ah, yeah,” Yuto said, he felt a little bit disappointed. He still wants to enjoy Yabu’s presence near him. And he’d like to enjoy the warmth of Yabu’s arm longer. He didn’t even mind the rain that was pouring around them, that made his shoes and a little bit of his pants wet.
“We’re here,” Yabu’s words interrupted Yuto’s thoughts.
He looked up and realized that they arrived at his house already. He was really disappointed now. He opened the gate and Yabu walked with him to the front door. Yuto turned to face Yabu and smiled cutely at him.
“Thank you so much, Yabu kun!” Yuto said.
“No problem. Well, it’s time for me to go. Bye,” Yabu smiled back at him and waved his hand slightly before he turned back and went home. Yuto waited until Yabu’s back gone from his sight before he entered the house.

It was a rainy day. Yuto was aware of that. He knew that today would rain, according to the weather news. But he didn’t bring his umbrella on purpose. Instead, he walked towards Yabu who was preparing to go home.
“Yabu kun,” Yuto called.
“What is it, Yuto?” Yabu looked up from his bag and smiled to Yuto.
“Seems it’s raining outside and I didn’t bring my umbrella. Would you mind to share your umbrella with me?” Yuto asked cutely.
“You really don’t change, do you? Always ask me to walk you home whenever it rains,” Yuto grinned at Yabu’s remark.
“So you don’t want to?” Yuto asked again.
“I didn’t say that,” Yabu smiled. “Let’s go.”
They walked out of the building, just like the other years that had passed, with Yabu’s arm on Yuto’s shoulder, under an umbrella. Yuto still hates rain, but he loves rain when it pours on practice days.
