“Ryeowook, smile!”
Ryeowook turned at the call of his name, caught sight of the camera and automatically pulled a smile onto his face, bringing up his signature peace sign to complete his image of innocence. Kibum grinned, looking at the screen of the camera, satisfied at the outcome. He showed the result to Ryeowook, earning him an approving smile before Ryeowook turned back to writing his thank yous and photo card message. The crease in his forehead was an all too clear sign that Ryeowook was putting more than necessary thought into what he was writing.
“Kibum! Kibum! My turn! My turn!”
Kibum was pulled away forcefully by a ball of energy, leaving him no choice but to follow. He tried hard not to roll his eyes or emit an exasperated sigh. Instead, he focused the lens of his camera and set the flash on.
“OK Donghae-hyung, smile!” Kibum paused, looking away from the camera peephole to look at the object of his picture. “Hyung, that’s not a smile; that’s a frown. And what’s with the four fingers?”
“I don’t know, I just think it looks cool,” Donghae shrugged, posing once more. “Doesn’t it make me look cool and manly?”
When it was apparent Donghae was dead serious about what he intended from the pose, Kibum took the picture, resigned to what kind of image Donghae was trying to portray to the fans.
“Let me see! Let me see! Let me see!” The hyper ball of energy that was Donghae returned in full force and practically bounced beside Kibum to see the picture. “Oh! Oh! Oh!!! Don’t I look cool and manly?”
Before Kibum could answer (even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t have), Donghae was already rushing off happily to the corner of the room where Hyukjae was getting his make-up done. Along the way, he almost toppled over a not-so-happy Sungmin who was wearing a scowl on his face. A wiser person would’ve gone around the room, looking for other people to photograph before returning to Sungmin (hopefully when his mood lightens), but Kibum stepped up to the shorter man with one of his charming grins on his face.
“Picture for the photo cards, hyung?” Kibum said, holding up the camera.
Sungmin gave him a blank look, expression still dark.
Kibum shrugged then held the camera level to Sungmin’s face. “Smile, hyung!”
The picture was taken but it was as if nothing had even happened: Sungmin’s face remained stoic, his lips pursed in a tight line and his eyes with an eerily dead look that spoke of promises of very, very bad things. Kibum raised an eyebrow and was about to comment on the lack of emotions coming from the man who assumingly adored liked pink and would put Britney Spears to shame when he wore a schoolgirl outfit, but Sungmin had already walked off, a seemingly ominous aura surrounding him. He vaguely heard Sungmin ask for thicker eyeliner from one of the make-up artists.
Turning away from Sungmin, he found himself quite literally face-to-face with a widely grinning Donghae. It took a moment for him to blink back his surprise before he had the sense to step back and put some safe distance between him and this seemingly man-child. It was when his peripheral views was not entirely full of Donghae that he realized Donghae had two people on either side of him, each being held in each of his hand.
“It’s Henry’s turn!” Donghae declared, almost pushing Henry towards Kibum.
Henry thankfully managed to catch himself in time before he fell onto Kibum, but Kibum was not as reflexively fast, and as he stumbled back to avoid collision, he couldn’t manage to hold himself upright to hold his balance, he gripped the camera tight and his finger accidentally pressed the take button. Henry was just offering an apologetic look at Kibum when the flash blinded him and he saw stars. Kibum fell flat on his behind.
By the time Kibum managed to straighten himself out and get back on his feet, Henry had already drifted off, seemingly glad that Donghae was too distracted by Kibum’s fall to notice he had slunk away. A scold was forming its way in Kibum’s mouth and he was about to direct it at Donghae, but before he knew it, Donghae was leaving Hyukjae standing alone, while he stood behind Kibum, egging him on.
“Kibum! Kibum! I want Hyukkie to do the same pose as me!”
“What pose?” Hyukjae asked, his confusion heavily apparent even if his eyes were shielded by shades.
“Come on, Kibum, take the picture!” Donghae urged. “Hyukkie, do this pose! Like this!”
Kibum didn’t know whether Donghae had repeated the same pose as he had done before or he’d completely given Hyukjae something else to do, but Hyukjae’s shot was far from what Donghae had done. Even after Kibum had taken the shot and looked at the result, Hyukjae remained frozen with one hand dropping his shades to his nose, his mouth open in a small ‘o’ and his eyes wide with amazement.
“That’s not what I told you to do, Hyukkie…,” Donghae whined, peeking over Kibum’s shoulder to see the picture. He threw Hyukjae a disappointed glare.
Hyukjae seemed to find his voice, though his expression hadn’t changed. “But Hae, that-that-that’s the face-you-me-and-last night-tub-we-hot-water-all night-and-and-and-.”
Kibum found he didn’t want to hear the end of that sentence or, worse yet, hear the coherent version of what Hyukjae was trying to stutter out. He walked away, leaving a dissatisfied Donghae to deal with his garbling boyfriend. He walked away from the center of the room and approached the black couches lined up against the walls where four people were currently seated, two of which were bickering slightly in the corner. Choosing to avoid as much drama as possible, Kibum walked over to Siwon, who was currently occupied on the phone, a very solemn expression on his face.
“I see…uh-huh…I know it wouldn’t be wise to-uh-huh…but we’re gonna be in China…yeah, I guess…still though….”
He caught Siwon’s eye as the man looked up briefly and motioned to his camera with a smile. The only response he got was Siwon looking away, a definite grim to his expression as he suddenly switched to Mandarin in a considerably more distressed tone. Kibum frowned.
“He’s talking to Hankyung-hyung,” Ryeowook provided in a low whisper as he stood up from where he’d been sitting next to Siwon and went off to approach their manager (who stared at the page-long finished thank you Ryeowook handed him and looked on the very verge of yelling at Ryeowook to remind him that the quota was 150 words or less, but seeing the happy glint and the bright smile on Ryeowook’s face, he merely sighed and walked away, shaking his head).
Kibum was not the most informed when it came to intragroup relationships (he chose to not care, really), but deducing from Siwon’s tone, the strain in his voice and that lost look on his face, this forced separation was only making things worse for the two of them. Not wanting to bother Siwon any longer, Kibum took his picture (tactfully turning off the flash) and walked off to the corner where he found Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi.
There was a little scuffle going on between the two and what seemed to be one of their photo card message papers was currently being fought over.
“No, I don’t want to add a smiley face on my photo card! I’ve written a meaningful message on it already! Don’t ruin it with a smiley face!” Kyuhyun was saying, trying to keep his card out of reach.
“But Kui Xian~ It’s so boring~ You don’t even have hearts on yours! Even Hyukjae’s has a heart on it! And Sungmin-hyung’s has a star and a heart! Yours just looks plain!” He fought hard to grab the card out of Kyuhyun’s hand.
Kyuhyun hid the card behind his back, leaning away from Zhou Mi who continued making grabby hands. “Do you want me to write something as tacky as ‘The Anchovy of Asia’ on my card? Do you want me to write in scribbles like Sungmin-hyung does? Look! Henry and Siwon didn’t even draw hearts or stars or smiley faces on theirs!”
Zhou Mi was halfway onto Kyuhyun’s lap, trying to get the cards. “Yeah, but Henry’s cute enough as it is; he doesn’t need to make his photo card cuter. And Siwon’s too classy to draw hearts or stars or smiley faces!”
Kyuhyun’s jaw dropped. “So you’re saying I’m neither cute nor classy?!”
Zhou Mi rolled his eyes, sitting back with a huffy sigh as he swept his fringe out of one eye and gave Kyuhyun an exasperated look. “No. You’re a jerk who won’t let your own boyfriend decorate your photo card!”
“You already drew a smiley face on your card! If you draw one on mine, everyone will know we’re together!” Kyuhyun insisted.
Zhou Mi rolled his eyes again. “Everyone knows already, Kui Xian.”
“Not the fans!” he said. “They assume things, but they never know what’s true and what isn’t!”
Zhou Mi gave him a calculating look, arms crossed on his chest, foot tapping on the ground. Kyuhyun blinked, at a loss to what that look meant. The moment he let his guard down, Zhou Mi pounced with a small yelp of a war cry and managed to grab the card out of Kyuhyun’s hand. Though unfortunately, him grabbing the card meant, he had no way of breaking his fall onto Kyuhyun and since Kyuhyun was barely aware of the sudden onslaught, could only widen his eyes in surprise and fall onto his back, cushioned gratefully by the sofa he was sitting on. Zhou Mi let out a triumphant cry, punching the air in victory, quick to uncap the black felt tip he had in hand and draw two twin triangles at the end of Kyuhyun’s message in representation of what Kyuhyun had been rejecting: a smiley face. He added a line underneath both triangles to accentuate the smile portrayed.
“There!” Zhou Mi said, satisfied. “Now you have a smiley face and you don’t have to worry about the fans getting suspicious! Our smiley faces are different!”
“Yeah, they’re not similar at all,” Kyuhyun grumbled dryly. “Now get off me.”
Zhou Mi looked down, only suddenly aware he was still sitting in Kyuhyun’s lap, before sliding off to sit on his own with a slightly sheepish grin. It did nothing to tone down the victorious glow of happiness on his face. Kibum wondered how Zhou Mi could remain smiling when Kyuhyun was looking nothing short of murderous. He really didn’t want to stay and ponder and decided he’d waited long enough already.
“Guys?” he addressed, catching both their attention. “Pictures?”
Zhou Mi’s eyes lit up, if possible, brighter. “Oooooooh! Yes! For the photo cards, right? I don’t know why you choose to disappear from Super Junior and take pictures instead.”
“Because his boyfriend is in the middle of a crisis and Kibum needs to constantly be there to make sure his boyfriend doesn’t turn to his compulsive eating habits,” Kyuhyun muttered angrily, arms crossed and an unmistakably sulky expression on his face.
Zhou Mi clucked his tongue at Kyuhyun. “Be nice,” he warned. “Here. I’ll give you your card back.”
Kyuhyun snatched the card away, his expression remaining somber as he stared accusingly at the drawn smiley that now brightened up his handwritten message. He mumbled something about the drawing looking more like a cringe than a smile, but Zhou Mi waved him off.
“Come on. Take the picture! I’m ready!” Zhou Mi said chirpily, having stood up and held a pose that Kibum could only describe as cavity-givingly sweet. He was surprised bright rays of sunshine didn’t suddenly beam from behind Zhou Mi, his gaze shining through from beneath strips of his fringe and his smile looking like a million watts, even if it was only a small sliver of Zhou Mi’s usual grin. The fact that he held onto the ends of his white, long collar-bow piece with the tips of his fingers only completed the picture of innocence.
Kibum couldn’t help smiling himself; this had to be the only print-worthy picture he’d taken all day.
“Oooooh!” Zhou Mi cooed from next to Kibum, looking at the result on the digital screen. “You’re a good photographer, Kibum!”
Kibum looked up, smiling broadly. “Thanks!” he said, grateful that someone finally appreciated his work.
“He’s not a very good band member though,” Kyuhyun muttered, still staring glumly at his card.
Zhou Mi hit him over the head. “Kui Xian! Be nice! You know he’s taking time off to be with Changmin!”
Kibum blushed, remaining quiet on the matter, not wanting to encourage Kyuhyun to tease him any further or have Zhou Mi embarrass him just as much by defending him. Instead, he directed his camera at Kyuhyun, adjusting the focus for the shot. Zhou Mi seemed to have notice because he suddenly cried out:
“Kui Xian! Kui Xian! Picture time for you! Smile!”
Kyuhyun did look up, and he did face the camera lens, but he wore the same miserable expression as though his dog had just died an untimely death. Kibum waited a few seconds, wondering if Kyuhyun’s expression was going to brighten at all, but when seconds passed and he heard the irritated huffs coming from Zhou Mi beside him (clearly on the verge of scolding Kyuhyun for his lack of better expressions), he took the picture, effectively capturing solemn Kyuhyun.
“Thank you,” Zhou Mi said with a deep exhale.
Kibum nodded. “Here, I’ll take the cards if you’re done,” he offered.
Zhou Mi took the card held limply in Kyuhyun’s hand (Kibum half-expected another struggle but was relieved when Kyuhyun merely stayed dead in his spot) and handed over both of theirs. Kibum took them and walked off, vaguely hearing Zhou Mi sit himself down beside Kyuhyun again, whispering a word of comfort or two, before an unmistakable kiss had been planted. He was tempted to know if Kyuhyun reacted at all to the kiss, but he thought he heard Kyuhyun mutter something about not being childish and not sulking. Zhou Mi’s cry of “Oh Kui Xian!” and the laughter that followed told him more than enough that Kyuhyun had been effectively un-sulk-ized.
He handed the two cards to the manager, sitting just outside the door of the room, massaging his temples in concentric circles, whilst muttering some sort of self-consoling mantra to himself. He heard the words “go crazy” and “stay sane” and chose to not linger, offhandedly mentioning about an appointment and promising he’d e-mail the photos later that day.
He took one last glance at the room he was exiting: Donghae was still adamantly trying to cajole a very red-faced Hyukjae into posing as he did, failing miserably because Hyukjae would continue staring at Donghae with a look in his eyes that looked nothing short of predatory. Henry sat by a table, a computer open in front of him as he apparently seemed to be video-calling his parents. Ryeowook was looking over Henry’s shoulder, smiling and waving at the elderly people on the screen. (And from what Kibum caught, Henry was trying to convince his parents, in English nonetheless, that no, Ryeowook was not his girlfriend because no, Ryeowook was not a girl at all) Sungmin was glaring at the room at large, eyes now heavily painted with jet black eyeliner. Siwon was still on the phone, though his figure was now hunched and Kibum couldn’t tell whether the slight trembles meant he was crying or not.
And Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi? Well they were no longer scuffling, that much Kibum could admit. Though he couldn’t exactly say that what they were doing in substitute for scuffling was something he wanted to see. No one seemed to notice, however. Apparently it was normal for two guys to make out on a couch in a room full of people.
Kibum’s phone rang, bringing him out of his silent observation. He glanced at the caller ID and couldn’t help smiling.
“Yeah, I’m on my way with the pizza, Min-ah,” he said before promptly hanging up.
He was glad to leave what he deemed as his bandmates’ madness behind and face his own crazy life of food-demanding boyfriends and illusively busy schedules.

Soooooo. This is so not me, is it?
It’s fluff, it’s crack, it’s all bright smiles and happy sunshine and crazy Donghae.
Yeah.
I don’t know.
I figured, after my last QMi, where I had everyone going all T______________T all over the comments, I couldn’t exactly subsequently post another angst (I shouldn’t use too many virtual tissues!!! Save the virtual trees!!!). Well, I could’ve. But I didn’t.
Everything was just so depressing in the last fic, what with Mimi’s health issue and him still working his ass off for the group, etc, I thought it’d be nice to picture our ball of sunshine when he’s truly in his element as, well, a ball of sunshine. So thus the fic!
Would you believe I wrote this in a day? O_O I can’t believe it myself. This wasn’t the fluff I was talking about when I said I had a fluff WIP about to be finished (that is still yet to be completed, unfortunately). This little piece of sunray came out when I noticed this morning (yes, it’s night where I am now) as I was looking through and saving the scanned photo cards of SJM, that Kyu and Mimi both have similar smiley faces on their handwritten messages. While Mimi’s is like this:
Kyuhyun’s is like this:
Seriously. Are those two married or what? And speaking of married, I have been dying to write an AU where Kyu and Mi are married. I MEAN LOOK AT THAT RING ON ZHOU MI’S RIGHT RING FINGER!!! IF THAT IS NOT AN ENGAGEMENT RING FROM KYUHYUN THEN I AM A KOALA CONDEMNED TO A LIFE WITHOUT EUCALYPTUS LEAVES!!!!! *glances down and hopes grey fur doesn’t suddenly sprout out*
So QMi rambling aside. I found the other members’ pictures were so random. Ryeowook’s pose was probably the most normal. And decent. Siwon looks like he’s distracted (probably is, I mean it’s Geng calling), Hyuk looks like a dork, Henry looks sheepish, Sungmin looks emo (what is with Min being emo lately?), Kyu looks like he had his game forcefully taken away from him, Mimi looks slightly creepy, and Hae…don’t get me started on Hae. I love the boys and these quirky pictures make me love them more, though I wish they didn’t look so much like dorks.
Anywho, comments will be loved?
Oh, btw, you can look at the other photo cards here, also read Ryeowook's lengthy thank you :
