*wicked grin* I love semantics. Normal is really an interesting concept, and it is something that never means the same thing to anyone. It holds an infinite range of meanings to everyone.
From the view of casual conversation we often call something 'irregular' or 'not normal' when it is operating outside of its standard parameters. I think its slightly reflexive almost, and by reflexive I mean a reaction we do not really mentally process. We can gauge something being not normal fairly easily but realistically, pinning things down as normal feels difficult and impossible to define, especially when dealing with people.
We constantly find ourselves stripping away what is not normal until we are left with a vague undefined version of 'normal' by default. I don't think you should seek normal. Normal is at best vague and ethereal. I think you should if you should want anything, it would be to be comfortable with yourself. I cannot state assuredly that it is a goal that would render the results you are seeking (as I'm not quite there myself), but I think its a much more tangible one. (:
