it's a silly day

It's 1am and I'm sleepy... plus I've got a movie to finish but today's events were too interesting to pass up.

1. Sun with Moon is wonderful, and prices are still fairly decent. Photos are with KPK but I'm really in love with the aburi chirashi set (I suspect aburi refers to partially cooked "sashimi") I had. First, the aburi chirashi bowl was such a delight, with just-grilled salmon, eel, avocadoes, salmon roe, scallop, cod roe and some garnishes here and there. Every mouthful just burst of flavour!

The set also came with a chawanmushi, a salad, a miso soup, and a few pieces of soft shell crab. I'm generally not big on chawanmushi, mostly out of disdain for Japanese style fish cakes or crabsticks that are so characteristic of every other "Japanese" restaurant, but the one here had an interesting twist with some chicken pieces and gingo nuts! Salad had mushrooms, 'nuff said. I'm a little miffed with the soft shell crab and that was all that kept my meal from being near perfect. Yet on the other hand, I'm almost glad for that, because I went to give feedback to the manager as I was leaving and it showed me just how seriously Sun with Moon took customer feedback! He actually picked up paper and pen to note down what I was saying, and even asked me to elaborate what exactly was the issue with the soft shell crab, so that the feedback for the kitchen is very specific and effective. I was definitely impressed! I've come across so many different forms of great service, but this was the first time someone scribbled down notes and requested specifics. Such a "small" gesture makes a world of a difference.

I was supposed to go for SIS meet-up and KPK was supposed to go to his friend's birthday thing but the rain was CRAZY when I got to Eunos. We finally got a cab after about 15 minutes but we were too fed up by then so we decided to be lazy and head home. It's so hilariously lame but, it makes for a pretty funny memory. heh.

And ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce that Ali Baba and I have booked our Euro trip tickets! Commitment ftw! Can't wait!
