The Nephew

Well, my nephew, on his upcoming leave from the Marines, is getting married. Still trying to work out if I will get to go or not, as the wedding is in the state of Washington where her family is. And his fiance is a nice girl. At least from what I have seen/heard... ;) They met while on deployment, and if anyone has any military background, relationships while on deployment (from what my nephew said), especially with a member of your unit, is "frowned upon". Actually, it's "not allowed". They actually waited until they were back stateside to "investigate" their relationship.

Well, at least if I can't make it for the wedding, a week later they will be back here for a reception for his side of the family that couldn't get to Washington.

Either way, I will get to see him and the new wife. And it is rather "weird" to think of him getting married at his young age. He is happy and that's all that matters. Of course, the sister-in-law (his mother) is not pleased at all... But what else is new? LOL

And I am sure that the fact he wants to pay for my ticket out there doesn't make her happy either... There is only about 10 years age difference between him and I, so, it seemed that as he and his sister were growing up, I was one of the "adults" they went to to talk about things going on in their lives. And for some reason, like I was with his dad, he and I are very close. Basically, he and I can talk about anything at all no matter what the subject matter. And he has always held a special place in my heart. He and his sister, like my dad, I am proud to say I am related to by blood.

Anyways, should be interesting.
