it's christmas and i am happy to announce that the gifts that i received were lovely indeed, but they are genuinely unimportant.
this morning i would like for you to look at christmas through Joseph's eyes. (matthew 1:18-25). When Joseph was courting Mary and found that she was with child, he thought that she was unclean. He loved her and was willing to put her away secretly. Then the angel of the Lord appeared, and gave him this great news, "Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is the of the Holy Ghost."(Matthew 1:20) Then Joseph did as the angel of the Lord had bidden and took Mary as his wife and kept her a virgin. Jesus our savior was born. After the birth of Jesus, Joseph had yet another dream that they should not return to Herod. And when they left, the angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him." Joseph wanted God's will and fulfilled his request. Jesus, Joseph, and Mary were in Egypt until the death of Herod. God sent yet another angel to move Joseph saying, "Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life." Joseph immediately arose and took the child to Israel. Joseph had so much faith in God, that he obeyed him him without hesitation. Do you share Joseph's faith? Today, like everyday, is for Christ. I ask that you evaluate your priorities this morning. Do you obey God at all costs? Does his love move you to live your life without regard to your own selfish supplication ( 1 John 5:14)? This christmas morning I will use Joseph's example and ask for God's will in my life, not my own.
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward mean. (Luke 2:14).
