A mostly merry Christmas

It was a good day.
We had decided not to try to take Tom to church or have him here overnight for Christmas Eve.  So, we went to the late Mass, and it was nice.  Ate bagels and lox for breakfast; very festive and minimal fuss.

We brought Tom home for opening presents.  These days, he's all about wanting to eat.  All day, all the time.  So, Glenn took him for a walk so I could get the haunch of venison on.  We all enjoyed dinner, and then there was another walk and dessert.  After that, Tom found himself kind of stuck.  Lately he has wanted to go back to the group home as soon as dinner is officially over.  Today he got as far as putting his shoes on, and then didn't really want to leave.  So, he rearranged the hat shelf for a while.  I'm glad he wanted to stay.

We got him back to the group home in time for their Christmas dinner, and gmcdavid and I and James played Stomple, which Santa brought, and watched Hogfather.

The only thing that wasn't right was that our dear carpe_noctum_93 had been fighting a stomach bug for a couple of days.  By sheer force of will she held herself together through Christmas Day, but after we brought Tom home she went to sleep and has been in bed ever since.  She's been feeling really bad off and on and I am nursing her.  I hope she gets better soon; we need to make Venison Pie for First Footing!
