WEENIE ROAST!!!

omg, ok so last night ranks 3rd on best experiences of my life. (1st being singing in england/scotland, 2nd being seeing the king's singers in concert)

ok so i don't have long to update because i still have to shower and pack, so i'm going to hurry.

Dark New Day: this band was great! they're pretty new and i only knew one of their songs, but they were so high-energy that you had to get sucked into their performance. i <3 their bass player. he was bouncing around and he had these amazing arms. i was so sad though, because he threw his pick right over my head and i didn't react fast enough and no one was expecting it so nobody caught it. me and cynthia kept looking back to where we knew it had landed but with the houselights down, it was no good. after they were done, this preppy kid was like, "oh hey!" and picked it up just as i had about to bend back and get it. cynthia was pissed. but we did get their set list. <3

Super Cell: so the 2 girls standing behind us were huge super cell fans, and i'm pretty sure they knew them or something, which doesn't surprise me because they're from dallas. they were awesome! the lead singer was wearing the shirt to a boyscout uniform, probably his at one point, no doubt, as i could see a texas flag looking patch on the sleeve. it went well with his tatoos, lol. these guys were so great. their bass player was also hot, lol. and again for the awesomeness of their lead guitar. anyway, so we caught a couple of pins, but were stripped of a drumstick and a shirt by taller people. curse our short mexican genes. so super cell was signing things in the lobby, so the girls behind us that we were talking to raced back there, and unfortunately never came back. we didn't dare leave because pit fans have no remorse for lost spots, and we weren't about to give up before crossfade.

Skindred:they of course were great, but their performance was dampened by a sudden outbreak of moshing and drunks and smoke of different varieties. between performances we made friends with the tall girl and her friend in front of us. we were about 3 feet from the bar so we thought we'd be ok and that the drunks would stick the to the back. turns out that we had 3-4 noisy drunk lesbians to our right, and they kept hugging and brushing/bumping into me. the tall girl's friend was making faces becuase the girl behind her was getting her butt grabbed and as everyone was so close, was touching her butt too. anywho, the crowd surfing started, moshing, etc. but what i could enjoy of the performance was good, when i wasn't being shoved in the back or turning around to help surf girls towards security.

CROSSFADE: so this was why we were here. cynthia is probably their biggest fan that i know of. lol. she discovered them about 2 months before they started playing on the radio. anyway, so at the end of skindred, the guys behind us that we thought were ok, had slipped(pushed) their way infront of us. cynthia therefore kept her elbow squarely planted in his kidneys/ribs. then we asked this guy if he could push us so i could push her between our tall friend and this jerk in the michigan hat. it kinda worked, but not really, he was stronger than i had permitted for his skinny frame. when crossfade came on then we proceeded in screaming as loud as we could into their ears. and i proved my lung capacity was something he'd be sorry for trying to ruin the best night of my sister's life. well, what with the croud surfing and everyone turning around to catch these stupid people, my sister managed to squeeze her way the the bar, and i was right behind her. so let me tell you how absolutely amazing it was. well, i can't, but i'll try.
if you've never been in the front of the pit at a rock concert, let me try to explain it. imagine that there's you, maybe one person on the bar, 3 feet of open space and security, and then the stage. you're so close that the bands are looking you in the eyes when they look out. you are screaming your head off, and they can hear your individual voice. and then while they're performing when they come to your end of the stage, they're about seven feet away and they look into your eyes and you're singing along with them and they know it.
*sigh* so yeah, it was wonderful, even thought the whole time i was gaurding people at both elbows from trying to usurp my amazing spot(it was really similar to shielding in soccer, so i win). cynthia was jumping up and down the whole time and screaming her head off, serving the purpose of being excited fit to burst, and trying to get herself some room. so yeah, they did their set, and during the last song(cold) it was so great i almost cried. they unfortunately didn't throw shirts or anything, and they didn't throw drumsticks near us, but the tall guy that we asked to push us ended up catching the set list, and since he had been watching cynthia jump up and down the whole time, and he was a seether fan, he gave it to her. and then he jokingly told her it'd be $10. lol.

so yeah, cynthia apologized to the guy next to her on the bar for shoving him out of the way, she did not apologize to the jerks that we were elbowing. *shakes fist* so then we said goodbye to our tall friends(the girl and the guy) and left the pit to get something to drink, go to the bathroom, call my mom. then we sat against the wall drinking our sodas and grinning crazily. oh yeah, we examined the crossfade setlist, and i pointed out that it said '"new prairie", Texas'..lol. (we were in grand prairie) and right before the last song it said "low profanity". lol.

seether, etc: so we went back to the back of the pit for seether, to avoid to the craziness, but ended up standing in a pool of alchohol surrounded by swaying drunks. so after a while we sat down off to the side. it was louder there because when we were at the front of the pit, we were in front of the speakers. so we're sitting there, i'm people watching, and all of a sudden cynthia is freaking out and poking me and pointing. at first i think she's pointing to some shirtless guy, but then right behind him i notice a crowd of 5 or so girls around a guy with blond hair. i don't realize who it is until he looks up and i see a sharpie in his hand and his shirt says "slur", and i realize, HOLY CRAP! this is the guitarist from super cell!! so before you can say autograph, i've pulled out my super cell shirt, and vaulted the seats infront of us down towards him, and standing behind the girls. the girl next to me turns and smiles, and grabs my elbow and motions for me to move forward. so he looks up and i smile and yell "can you sign my shirt" and he sees the shirt and his face lights up and he's like, "HEY!" and i'm like, heck yes! so i offer him my back and he signs it and i was like, "thanks so much!" and he said "thanks for coming out!!" and gave me a big hug! and then cynthia is jumping up and down behind me and then she says "i want a hug!" but i dunno if he heard her but she got one. so then i had handed her my shirt to look at and he motioned like he was going to sign it and she was like, "oh no, i have crossfade" and pointed to the shirt she was wearing and i told him it was a rule that we couldn't get the same band's shirts. he nodded and told us that we should come out a week from now to a club, that they were performing with skindred. and it was really loud(we were standing infront of the speaker) so i was like, "where?!" and he put his head next to mine and put his arm around me and was like, "we're performing at the curtain club!" so i was like, oh ok!! and he smiled and left. so now cynthia and i are both grinning like the freaking cheshire cat and we go sit back down.

so seether, lalala, and then all of a sudden, drowning pool is on stage!! so they all have drinks and he's saying something and motioning to drowning pool, and then he holds up a Dimebag shirt and says something, and then everyone has their lighters in the air. lol. so he toasted Dimebag, and they played a little tribute(he was shot last year...you know?) and then the drowning pool guys stayed on stage during "fine again" which was freaking amazing, and then we had to leave.

so yeah, it was an AMAZING night, but i have to go shower and pack now. sorry this was so long, but it could've been so much longer.
