I've had some good suprises lately -
- My grandmother's husband (the girls call him Great Grandpa Bob, and I call him Bob - he's a wonderful man and her 3rd husband [& she didn't marry my mom's dad]. But I wanted to clarify so you all weren't thinking I was dissing my grandfather) finished his cancer treatment! they can't see or feel the tumor any more! more tests in 2 mos, by which point he will be 92
- Mackenzie is very excited to go to OT and therapy, and the doctor's office is working really well with us to get it done. Of course, I screwed up courage over labor day weekend, but ah well.
- The new rules we put in place have led to a lot of discussions about correct behavior, and the girls have been more comfortable with eachother and with talking to me before having problems.
- Part of the reason for M's outburst the other day was that she was having a hard time keeping up with her friend & his friend. And they forgot she was 8, not 10. She's the same height as one of the boys, so it makes sense. And there are different expectations (even in the minds of kids) between 8 and 10.
- We're going to see the friend's friend she hit next weekend at a birthday party, and it will be fine. The hitting wasn't as big a problem to the boy or my friend's family as it was to me. *phew*. And M's concern that her friend didn't like her any more was completely unfounded. *double phew*
- The good workman is back! Things are actually going to get finished! yippeeeee!
- My parents are in Virginia for a wedding and then a vacation - and they are happy to get us revolutionary war materials for homeschooling. Yay! for useful souvenirs instead of accumulating more crap!
- My grandmother and her husband just got a new-to-them car. Their "old person" styled car was dying, and he's still doing a lot of driving. So they got a Subaru station wagon, which will be pefect for them. And the second suprise for that one - they've decided when he can no longer drive they'll give it to us! wowza!
- My other grandmother is healing really well from her hernia surgery. As in, better than I was healing a year and a half ago. and she'll be 89 in a few days.
- No one wanted baked potato with dinner last night, so we had yummy home fries for breakfast today.
- Mackenzie just now came in here to say "I didn't hurt anybody! Amelia pulled my hair, so I walked away - you can't talk about things to a baby" I told her I was very, very proud of her.
OK, there have also been crummy suprises too here and there, but overall good things. Any bad stuff is money related, which gives me extra stress. Or it's related to my health, which just simply sucks rocks. But today we're focusing on good things.
I also had fun changing my livejournal around. I like it, but if it is difficult to read for anyone, please let me know, and I'll fuss with it again.
