A Celebration Of Independent Minds!

BEING AN INDEPENDENT THINKER (or "weird" as my friends tell me), has worked against me many a time in my life. For instance, my entire career in public school was spent walking alone down the hall behind everybody else. My many jobs I have had after school have proven the same: I usually end up frightening coworkers with my "one of a kind mind".

My head has always kept people away. I'm not one to have mounds and mounds of friends (like my mother, who has just short of 8 billion close friends) and I'm also not one to really be invited anywhere or anything. I usually stay home and watch violent movies. Oh I fucking love violence.

But anyway, I thought that there must be someone out there who knows how I feel, so I thought I would make a small tribute to some of the greatest Independent Thinkers our world has had to offer, and how they represent.

1.WOODY ALLEN: My personal favourite Independent Thinker. I think his brain, though, is packed full of genius outrageous thoughts all the time. But he has done a lot for the geeks in this world, and even made several movies which featured him in roles that required him to have hot girlfriends! WHOO!

2.QUENTIN TARANTINO: Quentin and his massive skull have done a lot to prove that people who don't attend college after high school, have a sexual attraction to films, and work in video stores and have fun doing it can be fucking brilliant. In the great fight of Brains vs. Trends, it was Quentin Tarantino and his powerful mind that proved the victor. I should be sued for plagerism.

3.WEIRD AL YANKOVIC: I don't think there is anyone who could better represent an Independent Mind. Weird Al not only refuses to comform, he also refuses to conform to any sub-culture that people try and put him in.

4.MICHAEL STIPE: Michael Stipe was not just my one and only hero from 1989-1999, he's also someone who does not give two flying Dutchmen as to what people think of him. Want some proof? Check out the various fashion and hairstyle choices he's made in the last 15 years.

5.JOHN LYDON ROTTEN: We Don't fucking care!

6.SPIKE JONZE: He's the best.

7.RICHARD SIMMONS: I love him. He not only does his own thing all the time (however silly and sequined it may be), but he also dosen't give up on anything. Go Richard Simmons! Oh yeah, and by the way, I'll kick your ass hard if you make fun of him.

8.MARGARET CHO: I think that every girl should watch Notorious C.H.O., because her speech at the end is the answer to all your problems. I think a copy of that speech should be written and handed out in middle schools. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many anorexics and girls would start feeling better about themselves. That needs to happen right now.

9.JIM HENSON: Thank you Jim Henson. You deserve thanks that I can't put into words!

10.TREY PARKER AND MATT STONE: These guys broke so much ground for people with their own minds. See Matt Stone's discussion with Michael Moore in Bowling For Columbine.

11.ANDRE 3000: Especially as a rapper in a world where rap has to be about girls and sex and money and stuff, he's wearing striped socks and listening to rock music.

12.STANLEY KUBRICK: Do I need say anything else?

13.JON HEDER, EFREN RAMERIZ AND TINA MAJORINO: Napoleon Dynamite is an entire movie devoted to this topic and how much it rocks.

There's a lot more, but I'd be here for a while. People like Steve Buscemi, Michel Gondry, Neil Young and Conan O'Brien. These people rule.

So Independent Thinkers out there: Keep being you, and don't be afraid of the fact that your head isn't thinking the same thoughts as everyone else's.

Except if they're murderous thoughts or voices or something. Then be afraid. Be very afraid.

I give you applause!
