WHEN ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS
THE BAYONG PROJECT aims to help mothers in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental who cannot afford to provide their children three healthy meals each day and mothers who cannot afford to send their children to school. We conduct free 5 day trainings to teach the mothers the skill of bag weaving. They are taught by artisan weavers. The training includes free food, snacks, start up kits, molds, and the raw materials for each bag that they will produce.
Part of our advocacy is the use of only recyclable materials.
This project also aims at sponsoring feeding programs in the most depressed areas of Negros Oriental, aside from sponsoring elementary school education for one child of each Bayong Project mom weaver. We hope to one day be able to sponsor other children of non-Bayong Project mom weavers as well.
