The Lemon Plunge

I was floating around the Zidane x Garnet fic FFIX community on Fanfiction.net a month ago when I discovered the mostly decently written fic. For those of you that know about it and have played the game, you could sense the chemistry between the two characters. Anyway, the fic was set in-game and was quite detailed from Garnet's point of view. On a side note, I both love and hate Garnet as a character (I think the hate part comes from not enjoying her indecisive, slight selfish nature). One thing I noticed about that fic and the rest of that particular author's fics about ZxG was the hints of lemon (or lime, as it's often referred to). Great sexual tension, great foreplay. Well-written precursors are what make super lemons because it's all about the culmination of things.

Recently, the author posted the last chapter of their fic and at the beginning they posted quite a long author's note, mentioning reviewers that "hinted/suggested/bitched" about how the author should try writing a lemon. Considering this, I remembered reviewing the previous chapter stating my surprise that considering the fleeting amounts of sexual hints, there was not a single lemon in their fiction inventory. The author was kind enough to reply (which wasn't expected), saying that they weren't comfortable about writing lemon because lemon on fanfiction.net is usually written by thirteen year olds and are disgustingly romantic and somewhat "inaccurate". They said that maybe some day they will attempt one. I understood that if writing lemons aren't your thing, you simply just don't do them and that's that.....at the same time the raging pervert inside me thought, "dang, after all those dashes of sexual tension scattered throughout all the ZxG fics their the inventory, there's no culmination whatsoever. It's quite anticlimactic." I don't want to sound like a jerk but it's kind of a tease.

Oh well, it's a choice every author makes.....to turn to the dark side or not :P (Lord knows, I'm a lost cause).

On a side, side note, the next chapter of NNS is still being written. My fingers are crossed that it will be done by the end of June to mid-July.
