Since some of us didn't get to powwow after the movie. I shall come back and add my thoughts later; for now, go crazy in the comments. Knock thyselves out.
ETA: (
MAJOR SPOILERS HERE if for some bizarre reason you actually *don't* know what happens in this movie? )
Poorly done film, with some positively charming moments.
Unfortunately, anything related to the (stupid, IMO) plot provided by JK kind of sucked. The attack on the Burrow was a random and pointless addition. The locket scene could have been A LOT more painful to watch, I was kind of expecting it. The Battle of Hogwarts became the Gleeful Stroll Through Hogwarts? OK.
-Tom Felton- was fabulous. Aww, the birdie! The "He'll kill me line," was just perfect, as well. Also, I might kick Harry in the face, too. Just saying.
-Cormac- Random, but he was very funny. Puking on Snape's shoes was one of the highlights for me.
-Emma- did a very nice job. Her "distressed" acting has greatly improved, and they made Hermione likable and not stupid.
-Rupert- OMG, I love him! He was great! If only they would give him SOMETHING more than comedy! And, WTF, why was he so removed from the 'final discussion'?? But, they didn't make him an ass, so good job there.
-DanRad- Very cute, but did it seem he was much sadder about Cedric than Dumbles? it was kind of odd.
-Alan- Still great, AMAZING with subtle expression changes. But- no one can make the line "I'm the Half-Blood Prince," line sound cool. I'm sorry, just no,
-Maggie Smith- still great.
-Micheal Gambon- Cute first scene. Again, the locket scene could have been better. Scene in the Tower was well done on everyone's part. But, slow-moing his fall? Sorry, it made me ROFL.
-Slughorn- Good. Funny at times, irritating when necessary (which unfortunately was most of the film).
-Lavender- funny, well done.
-Evanna Lynch- PRECIOUS. She's just so damn cute, and her and Dan have SO MUCH more chemistry than the following.
-Bonnie- I'm sorry, but the girl CANNOT act. She's like a WALL. A suddenly, and stupidly, very important wall. LOL, WUT? Not good :(
HIGH POINTS:
-Puking on Snape's shoes.
-The Ron/Hermione relationship was handled much better than in the book.
-Draco.
-Felix potion scenes.
-Love Potion scenes.
-Luna.
LOW POINTS:
-Ginny and Harry- The Shoelace Thing. WHAT? XD
-Ginny and Harry's response attack at the Burrow. Why would they go together, pushing aside this pointlessness of the entire scene?
-Ginny and Harry can get into Draco's room. GAPING PLOT HOLE IS GAPING.
-Ginny and Harry- "Close your eyes," Again, WHAT? XD
-Then again, just Ginny/Harry.
-The last scene, which jumped from "Whoa, Dumbledore is dead," to "REMEMBER OH SO HAWWT GINNY?" back to "Oh, yes. Dumbledore :(" And how Ron keeps getting shafted in these important scenes.
-TRANSITIONS- I WANT THEM!!
-The lack of Neville!! :(
-The climax of the film, particularly how there wasn't one :[
All in all, it didn't feel like Harry Potter. Which is good, I suppose, considering the gripes I had with it. I feel like the cast (sans Bonnie, sorry) put in a lot of effort, but the directors and writers just let it flounder dead in the water.
A QUOTE TO SUM IT UP:
"Hey, it IS a Vanishing Cabinet. Maybe that's where the plot went." - Annie Hocheiser.
