Fanaa
I today read a statement by BJP spokesman that the party had not boycotted the movie and Aamir should apologize for defaming the organization.
“BJP cultural cell co-convenor Gajendra Chauhan and party spokesman Prakash Javadekar, however, denied their organisation had called for boycott in Gujarat of the film 'Fanna' starring Khan.” (link)
On the other hand the BJP yuva morcha (which obviously is connected with BJP) had called for the boycott of Fanaa and also went on to stop the circulation of pirated VCDs! (link)
Does anyone else see the hypocrisy of politicians and political parties. It’s a shame that these parties cannot progress in the same way as our nation has. They still believe playing with sentiments of people(gujaratis) is the only way of getting votes in next elections. This applies to almost all politicians, except for some really honest ones, and political parties in India. One of my friends had argued with me over why I didn’t vote in the last election and I convinced him to stop voting from the next election!
Another thing that hit me was how the celebrities are being made the scapegoats. I previously had a view that celebrities, like politicians, are all powerful and can get away whatever right or wrong they say/do. But the trend has recently been reversed. I recently got to know that Salman Khan was handed over a _harsher_ sentence for poaching, since the judge thought Salman had higher responsibility to society as a _celebrity_. Even though he did a very wrong thing, he should have been treated equally with others and punished accordingly. And now Aamir is bearing the brunt as politicians believe he is a celebrity and should not make political statements!

Who the heck are these politicians to dictate what one has to say or do. I just don’t understand if this nonsense will ever at all.
