Customer support

I have had my share of frustrations with customer support back in India and here in US too. In an era where companies are shirking responsibilities and sometimes passing the blame to consumers for flaws in their products, Canon's support came as a real surprise to me. Even big companies like Apple and Microsoft have shown a fair amount of arrogance in responding to issues with their products.

My 4 year old Canon A70, that I bought in 2003 during my stay in China, started acting up and after doing some research on inter-webs the problem was related to an issue with its CCD. Canon had issued an advisory couple of years back and my camera was in the list. I contacted Canon support through email and a week later I now have my beloved A70 in full working condition. My local shop had quoted me 80 bucks just for the service with additional charges for parts and I didn't even have to pay a penny to Canon.

This has been the best customer support I ever received and kudos to Canon for caring so much about its customers! My camera can now click during my upcoming visit to India.

canon, support
