Sherlock decided then that actually, he really didn't like people talking about him as if he wasn't there and declared his presence in the way that only spoilt six year-olds (and Sherlock, of course) could pull off quite so ( Read more... )

Indeed it has! Yes - I always thought that Lestrade would sort of take on the role of a carer - as odd as that sounds!

... he is just too nice, that's his problem.

But also there is that exchange in ASIP during the drugs bust scene where S says this is childish and L says well I'm dealing with a child!

makes sense to me...

and, while I think of it, there is S's past as an addict - one thing they're very good at is getting people to take care of them.

Hmm...I think it's not so much that he's manipulative, it's more that he's, I don't know, unaware of his surroundings. At least, that's how I tried to write him. I think that perhaps, he's a bit unaware of consequences and so he acts before really thinking, if that makes any sense.

... it does, and I may be thinking more about the BBC version than your fic (S. in the BBC one is certainly not above a bit of manipulation to get what he wants - poor Molly). Or I may just be going sideways to real life thinking, which is not the most relevant thing to do here!

I completely forgot about poor Molly! Blast. I may have completely written Sherlock wrong then. -facepalm-

... no need for *facepalm* as I think you are right about Sherlock and Lestrade and that it's actually quite instinctual rather than conscious on S's part. And don't let anybody tell you you have written this wrong; it's your fic, your rules.

sorry - that last bit actually sounded a bit bossier than I meant it to.

No, it's fine! I know - I can't see Sherlock intentionally thinking "This might hurt someone but it doesn't matter". I could just see him thinking that it would be the easiest way to get something done and not realising the consequences. I'm such a nerd when it comes to analysing things, hah.

thank you!

/completely/ agreeing with your view of his thinking here - which fits with that childishness again.

You've made me want to write a fic between Watson and Sherlock :O I'm not sure about Watson. I mean, I like the kind of bromance that he and Sherlock have, but the two of them together makes me a little awkward now...I just can't see it D: Having said that, I'd love to write a fic about Watson having a strop over doing the weekly clean-up :L

ok - don't know how I did that, but will look forward to it!

Sorry - my brain goes off on a tangent sometimes! The childishness thing right there - it makes me kind of wonder how Watson deals with it. Not sure I really want to write Watson though :/

I imagine him dealing with it Very Sensibly - but being thwarted nevertheless.

I can imagine him just leaving the room to make a cup of tea after Sherlock's insulted him particularly badly and having a little mental whine before getting up and tidying up.

(What am I even saying? Why do all of my stories contain so much tea?)
