IMPROV: Storytelling

(Florian, Mordred, "chance"; 15 minutes)

They're telling stories by the fireside of days gone by, of chivalry and daring. The village children are gathered close around, listening raptly, but one young man gets up and walks out without a word. Florian finds the story harmless enough, but he's heard it all before. He slips away soon after, and finds the boy standing under the eaves of the stable, scowling at the rain.

"You don't care for pageantry?"

A slant of dark eyes in the torchlight. "It was never like that."

Florian smiles. "It seldom is."

"No." The rain slackens for a minute, and then regains its force. "And I don't care for stories where I already know the ending."

"It may be an ending," Florian says. "Or it may just be that no one's had a chance to tell the rest, yet."

Oddly enough, the young man smiles.
