Brilliant. I knew the last scene was coming because we had discussed it but the whole chapter was entirely Anita. "I have to be strong." She is rather desperately hurt herself but she only sees what she didn't do. Her getting injured, well, that's just part of the job. (As seen in Micah, when she explains how she got the cross-shaped burn ( ... )

She is hurt and she is traumatized, not that she will admit it to herself. She's also of two minds about Nathaniel -- she recognizes that what happened to him was her fault, but she cannot/will not see what it's doing to him. More on that in future chapters.

Nathaniel couldn't bear to leave, or rather be somewhere without Anita, but when it came to his side of the story, his need for her *not* to hear outweighted her leaving. We'll get more into that in future chapters as well.

The secondary HP characters are getting more weight as Harry starts to look beyond his sphere, as he looks at the world in a more adult way. He's branching out. I also needed to touch back on the Bellatrix thing, and Tonks was the perfect person to do that. Plus, Tonks is awesome.

I hope you enjoy as I continue :)

Yeah, Harry was going to beat on Malfoy until someone or something stopped him. I'm sure Ron would have stopped him in a while, but you know.

Yes, Luna is teh awesome, I agree :)

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said angst. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. Can't wait to see how Harry, Anita, and everyone deal. Wonderful as always.

If you thinking what I think you're thinking, then no, it's not that. But still, mega trauma. Poor kids.

Wow. There's just so much pain in this chapter that it's almost overwhelming. After reading it, I have that frustrated feeling you sometimes feel when everything is falling down around you and you don't know how to fix it. Wonderful, wonderful character portrayal.

There really is too much pain -- Anita can't figure out a way to fix it, Harry can't figure out why he feels this way, and all around turmoil. Hopefully they can address these issues.

(Oh, who am I kidding? these two won't ever figure it out)

If those two figured it out, I'd take that as a sign of the apocalypse. You know, I think I know what their biggest problem is that they don't talk to others. They don't give the people around them the credit and respect they're due. You have to practically drag whatever's wrong with Anita out of her. Harry, when he isn't in serious denial, doesn't think anyone around him can understand (though, with Harry, he is a teenager - so I get why he thinks this).

They don't give the people around them the credit and respect they're due.

Both of them, in early childhood, had it so no one cared about what they were feeling. Anita, her stepmother was not sure what to make of her AND there's that whole dark magic freak-out thing. Harry... well, Dursleys.

So they get older, and They Have Issues. Maybe this will help them get over that.... to a certain degree, anyway.
