The Day Habeas Corpus Died

He did it; George W. Bush signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 two days ago, first thing in the morning on October 17, 2006, a piece of legislation that abolishes habeas corpus permanently and allows the President personally to choose who is considered an "unlawful enemy combatant."  Meanwhile, the American public offered up a great, collective yawn.  More on that here, a mainstream media source for a change.  R.I.P.  the Bill of Rights.
