As some of you may have noticed, this comm was recently spammed with a bunch of tangentially related, repetitive off-LJ RPG ads. Advertising was previously allowed with the caveat that it should be relevant to the interests of this comm, and most of all not deliberately spammy. Considering the poster(s) of the recent ads must have ignored this recommendation if they went on to post the same vaguely related thing several times in a row, even after being told not to do it, this rule has been changed. From now on, advertising your own community/website/etc. is only allowed with explicit mod permission. This means that you should PM a mod, preferably me since I came up with this rule, before you make any promo post here. Ignoring this or creating multiple accounts to evade a first ban will just result in another ban.
This isn't because we hate [insert topic of your advertisement]. It's because this community should be focused on content, including but not limited to fic, art, fanmixes, vids and so on. Promo posts are not very content-heavy so, in order to compensate for that, they should have significant relevance to this comm.
All that said, I probably will approve your advertisement if:
--It is at least a little less generic than your average multi-fandom soliciting post;
--You actually communicate with the mods when they tell you you're crossing the line;
--You are not spamming the community with more than one (1) post for a given event/site/comm;
--You managed to get the name of the fandom in question right;
--You make a minimal amount of effort to appeal to your audience.
Basically, don't go spamming this place and you can still advertise here, as long as you ask first. In case anyone would like to have a discussion about promo posts and whether they should be allowed at all (as this rule is by no means set in stone as it currently stands), feel free to hit the comments with your thoughts. Thank you, and good evening.
